. ambassador stevens was an avid runner and played tennis ambassador stevens was an avid runner and played tennis as well. thw sst was heavily involved when he ran. i ran with him on several occasions. the sst provided an important link for the country team to soc africa. there was a good exchange of information between soc africa and the rso. there was a great relationship. i reported three times a week through video teleconference and sent daily situation reports. i have the communications ability to provide a direct link to soc africa. i no longer have the emails or documents, as much of this was on their servers and computers. most of this is from memory. the state department's decision not to extend sst security beyond the fifth of august, terminated our work in this capacity. we were in the process of changing title back to 10. we were continually updated with reports i sent to my military chain of command. the rso sent information on security and threats in a similar matter up his chain of command. while the sound of gunfire subsided from february to april, the situation remains uns

by additional security? we're hearing there were concerns by some of those who were a part of ambassador stevens' immediate group talking about issues that they had. there's also been just moments ago, some discussion about whether some of the information being presented is classified or not. so there are lots of political overtones to this. very complicated because there are lives that were lost here. there was service to the country from these fine americans who were there and who were killed and so everyone is trying to trade a bit lightly on that. but there is a lot of politics mixed into this along with the committee's responsibility in oversight to look for answers. there was frustration among some republicans that the state department put out a detailed timeline but not included members of the committee. frustration among democrats who say that one of the members jason chav fitz went to libya but no democrats involved on that trip. there are complex ish shis and don't expect to have all of the issues. they want to shine a light on things, worries among those closest to ambassador stevens

that there was no demonstration, that there were repeated requests from stevens within hours of his death for reinforcements for security enhancements, two attacks prior to that, in a couple months, and biden goes on the debates and says they knew nothing about it. my understanding of national security -- of, anyway, my understanding is the president has control, is well aware in the situation room of the the live feed, is where decisions being made. we've got youryou've point that the benghazi attack is an october ssurprise. guest: almost every day some of the national security riders of the new york times have been doing quite a lot on benghazi and the aftermath of the attack. the run-up to it as well. the conservative media believes that it's not being covered enough. whether or not it is, there are guys like tapper at abc, and the new york times and washington post has done a lot of it, reporting the actual on the grounds scenes. this is an effort to undermine the president's advantage on foreign-policy. but i'm not sure there's much there. i'm not fully versed in everything about benghazi and the attac
